Urban Resilience: A structural rebirth in bold unrelenting blue.

This project is a testament to architectural resilience. Flanked by aggressive new developments on both sides that compromised the original foundation and rendered the home uninhabitable, the owners were faced with a choice: retreat, or reinvent. They chose to stay, transforming a potential loss into their ultimate "forever home."

The scope involved stabilizing and expanding the compromised footprint. We seized the opportunity to add a new vertical volume to the front of the structure, creating a triplex layout with a ground-floor rental and a spacious owner’s duplex above, capped by a new private walk-out terrace.

The interior is defined by a deep personal connection to music and color. The central architectural feature is a custom-fabricated staircase, fabricated as part of the construction by Grandeur Hills Group, that serves a dual purpose: circulation and curation. The structure integrates bespoke joinery designed specifically to house the client’s extensive vinyl collection and audio equipment, turning the stairwell into a functional acoustic library.

Aesthetically, the home is an unapologetic manifesto of the client’s favorite hue. We deployed a spectrum of blue throughout the project—anchoring the street presence with a blue facade and front door, and carrying the tone through to the exterior decking, bathroom tiling, and custom millwork. It is a home that was nearly lost, but is now louder, bolder, and more personal than ever before.
