Tailored Precision in Carroll Gardens: Infusing a generic new build with bespoke craft and soul.
Located in Carroll Gardens, this project began with a distinct challenge: transforming a recently constructed "developer" townhouse into a home with a soul. The client’s vision was ambitious—an uncompromising request for art walls, specific entertaining needs, and a cohesive flow that the existing layout simply didn't possess. Our strategy was to reimagine the interior architecture to support a life centered around art and hospitality.
The transformation begins at the entry, which was rebuilt to house custom cabinetry fabricated by the Brooklyn-based studio WüD. On the parlor level, we dissolved the divide between the front and rear parlors by introducing a U-shaped kitchen that acts as the home’s social anchor. Featuring Henrybuilt cabinetry, the island integrates a custom dining bench, maximizing the floor plate for flow. A focal point of this level is the custom wine display—a technical feat comprised of a floor-to-ceiling thermal glass enclosure. Bottles appear to float on wall-mounted pegs, creating a transparent, refrigerated jewel box that elegantly divides the space without blocking light.
The dining zone is defined by a custom table designed by our studio and fabricated by WüD, illuminated by artisanal fixtures from Allied Maker and Brendan Ravenhill. To unify the vertical volume of the house, we installed a cascading Bocci chandelier that spans six stories through the stairwell, creating a luminous spine connecting the garden level to the roof. The primary suite was reconfigured to include a walk-through closet and a spa-like bathroom clad in bespoke waterjet-cut tiles from Artistic Tile. The renovation is crowned by a fully redesigned roof deck featuring built-in planters, a grill station, and integrated smart-home audio.
